Beautiful 'hand me downs'
It was whilst soaking in the bath one Sunday evening (a rare event these days, but oh, so good), I found myself looking at the silk robe hanging on the back of the bathroom door - a beautiful burgundy paisley/floral design that once belonged to my husband's late father, Bob. When Bob sadly died (he was a very good age), my husband kept the robe, as he had vivid and such fond memories of Bob looking so wonderfully handsome in it, as he walked from the bathroom to the bedroom after showering.
It began a chain of thought for me about what a beautiful tradition handing down special pieces of clothing can be. Our mulberry silk robes flooded in as I pondered my thoughts, as I remembered a customer who bought one of our robes for her daughter to wear on her wedding morning and honeymoon, saying how special it would be if the robe could handed down to the next generation. So charming.
Handing down such special items often signifies connection, love, and the passing of stories through generations. Whether it’s a wedding dress, a family heirloom, or just a cherished item of clothing, like Bob's robe, the act of passing it down can create a lasting and meaningful legacy.
Maybe there is something in your wardrobe to pass on to the next generation?
